2024 Ontario Building Code Update
The much-anticipated 2024 Ontario Building Code has finally arrived!
Ontario Regulation 163/24 was filed on April 10, 2024, recognizing the 2020 National Building Code of Canada, with amendments identified in the “Ontario Amendments to the National Building Code of Canada 2020”, as the adopted Building Code.

Unfortunately, the format of its release leaves much to be desired. A user will be required to navigate not only the 2020 National Building Code of Canada but also the Ontario-specific amendment package – a whopping 800 pages of amendments!
In addition, establishing a comprehensive list of changes will be even more complicated, with the previous 2012 OBC edition having to be compared to both the 2020 NBC and the 800 page 2024 OBC amendment package.
