Project size and complexity will often create a need to occupy portions of the building prior to the completion of construction. The phased or partial occupancy of unfinished buildings / complexes undergoing construction allows for portions of facilities and buildings to be occupied on the basis that those portions are substantially complete and compliant with the requirements for occupancy under the Building Code.
In coordination with the design and construction team, MGA will develop Partial Occupancy Plans for a building / complex outlining the requirements and the preparation required to meet the desired phased occupancy schedule. The process of preparing a Partial Occupancy Plan may include determination of construction completion milestones, formation of alternative approaches and temporary measures, and interim Fire Safety Planning. MGA will also assist in negotiations with the Authorities Having Jurisdiction, to facilitate concept approvals and obtain partial occupancy permits.
